MARIOS DESCRIBES HIS PERSONAL JOURNEY
My destination is to help build healthy, strong and fit bodies, become mentally stronger, set new boundaries, experience the powerful connection between body and mind and discover your real potential.
My journey began more than a decade ago, in 2012 when I started abroad my professional training career as a fitness director and head personal trainer. I trained both athletes and fitness enthusiasts, at the same time researching the subjects of fitness, martial arts and innovative training methods. As part of my research, I came across a book by Joel Jamieson, one of the world’s most respectable authorities on strength and conditioning for combat sports, that emphasized the importance of the three energy systems in training MMA fighters: the aerobic, anaerobic lactic and anaerobic alactic systems. This brought me back to my university physiology studies, which I had never fully considered as a foundational training approach.
With renewed focus, I immersed myself in studying these energy systems. Observing MMA fighters, I saw firsthand how each athlete’s unique strategy utilized different energy systems. I analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of each approach and noticed that some fighters had exceptional abilities in specific systems. Inspired, I began tailoring my clients’ training to align with MMA’s energy demands.
As I developed and tested my methods, I realized that a single workout approach is insufficient. MMA requires a blend of fitness components, so I adjusted routines with varying time tables and exercises to target each component effectively. I designed workouts not only to build physical strength but also to challenge mental resilience. To keep sessions engaging and productive, I made sure no two workouts were ever the same.
When I returned to Cyprus in 2015 and opened my own gym in 2016, I continued refining my approach, focusing on maximizing energy system performance and minimizing recovery time. I incorporated exercises to develop all ten essential fitness components for MMA, ensuring that every workout pushes clients both physically and mentally. Each session emphasizes the importance of mindset, breath control, and proper technique to avoid injuries. I call this training program: Enesys Performance.
Over time, my clients included not only athletes but also fitness enthusiasts with diverse goals: weight loss, muscle gain, body shaping, endurance improvement, stress relief or simply a new challenge. Evidently, my training approach helped them achieve these goals with a clearly positive impact on their everyday lives—enhancing both physical and mental well-being.
The program’s mission is to help you discover that you are capable of far more than you ever imagined. As Marianne Williamson once wrote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”
